With Halloween tomorrow, people are assembling their costumes. Costume contact lenses may seem like the perfect finishing touch to a costume, but they have their own dangers.
Non-prescription contact lenses, like those found at a Halloween store, are likely not manufactured under the same regulations as prescription contact lenses. As a result, these lenses may be stored in harmful or contaminated solutions. Effects of these tainted lenses can range from mild irritation at first all the way to a serious corneal bacterial ulcer. These ulcers can lead to permanent damage to the eye and ones vision.
Costume, non-prescription contact lenses are best left on the shelf-they are not worth your sight!
Happy Halloween-stay safe!
