Monthly contacts: Buying 6 months versus Annual Supply

Sep 21, 2017

Monthly contact lenses offer great vision along with low-hassle maintenance of caring for lenses. Most contact lens brands are available for purchase in 6 month or 12 month increments. Which option is better?

There are several advantages in ordering a 12 month supply. Many contact lens brands offer rebates to those who purchase their contact lenses in-person (not online). These benefits vary between brands, but patients consistently receive a larger discount by ordering a full year supply. Buying once in bulk also eliminates the small trouble of reordering lenses every 6 months and waiting for them to arrive.

Over-wearing contact lenses increases the likelihood of bacterial corneal ulcers-gross! Avoid these at all costs! Buying lenses in a year supply decreases the chances patients need to “make their lenses last,” until their next eye exam. Disposing of monthly lenses regularly each month is an important step in caring for your eyes.
