Advanced Eye Care Center fits scleral lenses. These lenses vault the front surface of the eye, the cornea. The lens holds fluid allowing the cornea to remain hydrated throughout the day. Along with dry eye, scleral lenses can be a great option for patients with a history of corneal scarring, keratoconus, or other corneal degenerative diseases. This is because the fluid contained within the lens creates a more uniform surface for light to pass through-resulting in improved vision.

Scleral lenses (~15mm or larger) are larger in diameter than gas-permeable lenses (8-9mm diameter) and slightly larger than soft contact lenses (14 mm diameter). Working with Dr. Finn, patients learn how to insert, remove, and care for this specialty lens. When carefully used, scleral lenses can last 2 years and beyond.

For relief from frustrating dry eye and improving vision for patients with corneal conditions, scleral lenses may have great potential for you! Call 419-521-3937 to get started today!
