At Advanced Eye Care Center, we offer LipiView testing. LipiView testing is a unique device that allows for a more comprehensive evaluation of dry eye, by scanning oil glands on our eyelids. Over 80% of dry eye cases are due to oil gland (meibomian gland) dysfunction. LipiView gives new insight to gland health. We can see if glands are clogged and congested as well as possible death/atrophy of these glands. Dry eye worsens over time due to these meibomian glands losing function. Sadly once gland function is lost, no treatment can reactivate these glands. Oil from these glands helps to slow the evaporation of our tears. Using LipiView we aim to catch dry eye in its earliest stage, to minimize damage to these important oil glands. No two cases of dry eye are identical; we formulate a treatment specific to each patient.
