Macular degeneration causes damage in our eyes that degrades our central vision. Thankfully macular degeneration doesn’t cause blindness, but the inability or decreased ability to use our central vision leads to struggles with reading, driving, writing, and many other tasks. Macular degeneration is estimated to impact over 3 million Americans by 2020.

February Is Age- Related Macular Degeneration Awareness Month

Risk factors for macular degeneration includes: Age >60; history of smoking; family history of macular degeneration; Caucasian race; and poor diet.
