Have you been checking your grid?

Oct 07, 2021

For patients with macular degeneration, checking your Amsler grid is important!

Patients with macular degeneration should check their Amsler grid at home daily. When checking the grid, it should be a little more than one foot away and each eye should be tested separately (cover one eye at a time). Use bifocals or reading glasses (if applicable) to keep the grid in focus. If you read without glasses, no glasses are needed when checking the Amsler grid.

Checking this grid daily helps patients to detect subtle changes with their macular degeneration. Macular degeneration often changes over time. Treatment for macular degeneration is most effective when vision changes start!
