Pimple on the eyelid

A pain in the. . .eyelid

Have you ever gotten a "pimple" on your eyelid before?

Above, we can see an external hordeolum, commonly known as a 'stye.' These lesions represent an infection. When an oil gland on the edge of our eyelid gets clogged, bacteria will invade and reproduce.  Styes should be taken seriously because if the infection spreads, serious damage can be done. Styes are commonly treated with oral antibiotics in addition to at-home warm compresses used at least 3-4 times each day.  Styes usually improve in days to a few weeks with treatment.
